Chelsie Graffato Joins Green Building Design as Apprentice Engineer

Chelsie Graffato has joined Green Building Design as Apprentice Engineer, combining her work experience with a part time programme of study at Westminster College in Paddington Green. “I have always been interested in solving problems and understanding how buildings work”, says Chelsie. “I now get chance to learn on the job, which helps me to make sense of the theory taught at college.”

Chelsie is currently supporting colleagues with the design of lighting layouts and has visited two construction projects in Cambridge to see lighting equipment being installed. “This has been my favourite part of the job – seeing theory put into practice on site”, Chelsie adds.

The five year apprenticeship started in September 2013, with Chelsie spending four days a week with Green Building Design and one day at college. At the end of this period, Chelsie will be an experienced engineer, qualified with a BTEC Level 3 National Diploma in Building Services Engineering and the Built Environment.
